Explore the outdoors with your own personal naturalist. I lead guided hikes tailored to your group’s interests—whether it's birds, bugs, plants, or the whole ecosystem. Every hike is a chance to ask questions, learn something new, and connect with nature in a deeper way. All ages and experience levels welcome—curiosity is the only requirement.
Gall Hunt at Crane Creek via Sonoma County Regional Parks (2023)
I will take your group of ≤15 on a 90 minute round-trip hike with a topic of your choosing that is paced with accessibility in mind, making accommodations for participants with limited mobility whenever possible. The experience includes frequent stops to explore topics relevant to the hike’s theme, as well as scheduled breaks for water and snacks. Depending on the terrain and group interest, we may occasionally step off-trail for closer observations. Please come prepared for the possibility of wet or dirty clothing—this is a hands-on, nature-immersive experience.
Participants should arrive with appropriate hiking gear, including water, snacks, layered clothing, closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, and insect repellent. For safety, the group must maintain a maximum adult:child ratio of 1:5, not including the hike leader. A trusted adult will be assigned to act as the “sweep” at the back of the group to help keep everyone together. Please disclose any medical conditions or concerns in advance so proper accommodations can be made.
Ambassador animals are NOT available for this service. Please note that service fees do not include parking or park entry fees, which are the responsibility of participants or organizing groups. Hikes may take place in environments where natural hazards such as ticks, poison oak, or rattlesnakes are present - proper clothing and awareness are advised. We share public trails with other visitors and are expected to yield the right of way when appropriate. All hikes follow a Leave No Trace policy, with an emphasis on leaving the area cleaner than we found it and not removing anything from the trail. Carpooling is highly encouraged to take up minimal parking space. Photos may be taken as promotional material with consent from any individuals involved.
While I may recommend specific parks based on the lesson topic, I’m open to site suggestions as long as they meet program requirements.
For school groups: group size limit is increased to ≤20. Aides for students with special needs, classroom chaperones, teachers, and translators will not be counted toward group size.
